Agriculture Research Information System Cell (ARIS Cell) was established during 1995-96 with the objective to strengthen computing facilities at the institute. Local Area Network (LAN) based on Optical fiber and CAT 5 cable was established in the institute with ARIS Cell as the central serving unit. With time ARIS Cell has achieved many landmarks in order to strengthen ICT based infrastructure facilities at the institute. With efforts of the ARIS Cell, now institute has a big network of more than 180 nodes and approximately 150 computers are active on these nodes for internet browsing. ARIS Cell provided state of the art networking facilities by using TCP/IP protocols. Our two dedicated servers are used as Web, Mail & Proxy Servers by using Centos 5.5 (Linux). Institute has been selected as one of nodal centre under National Knowledge Network project of Government of India. Under this project, high speed leased line link has been established to share it further on the institute Local Area Network. In 2011, council has changed the name of the section to Agriculture Knowledge Management Unit (AKMU) in order to manage the various agriculture knowledge in the institute using computing facilities. AKMU is committed to promote ICT driven technology and information dissemination system for quick and cost-effective delivery of messages to all the participants in agriculture.
